Skull Skates “Glasnost Reissue” – 10″ x 30″ [17″ wheelbase]. First released in 1985. “Cutaway shape was created by R.D., one of the original founders of Skull Skates. I remember he was stoked to promote unity between the two nuclear nations [USA and Russia] during the Eighties Cold War Era. The main artwork was lifted from a 1930s Soviet woodblock print featuring a motorcycle with a sidecar intended to advance Russian moral towards industrial superiority. The word glasnost apparently meant a new openness which was being touted by the Soviet government in the Eighties, as they were seeing an end to the Cold War on the horizon.” – PD. Original spec – top and bottom graphics, full black dip, square rails, 7/16″ laminates. Classic functional quality shape featuring the O.G. V-concave. Contemporary hole pattern. Product of Canada.
